Ukiah police seek stabbing suspect

Ukiah police on Thursday were searching for the person or persons responsible the stabbing Tuesday evening of a 41-year-old man who suffered serious wounds.

He was flown to an out-of-county hospital and is expected to survive, said Ukiah Police Capt. Justin Wyatt. He said"We don't have anybody in custody yet," about the attack. He said police think more than one person was involved in the stabbing, which occurred in the parking lot of an apartment complex on Observatory Drive in south Ukiah about 5 p.m. Tuesday, Wyatt said.

Residents of the apartment complex phoned 911 after hearing the man call for help, Wyatt said.

"Nobody saw anything. I don't think anyone was outside at the time," he said.

The victim suffered wounds to his chest, arm and hands.

Police have not released his name to ensure his safety and to preserve the integrity of the investigation, Wyatt said. Police know of the man from previous law enforcement contacts, Wyatt said.
