James Gore gets David Rabbitt's backing in Sonoma County supervisor race

James Gore, a candidate for 4th District Sonoma County supervisor, has been endorsed by David Rabbitt, chairman of the Board of Supervisors.

"James has deep roots in our community as a Sonoma County native and graduate of local public schools," Rabbitt said in a statement released Wednesday.

He said Gore will be "an exceptional representative" for the north county on the Board of Supervisors, and "there will be no better partner to continue to advance meaningful pension reform, invest in our roads and streets and create jobs and strengthen our economy."

Gore, a former appointee in the Obama Administration's Department of Agriculture, said Thursday "I'm excited and happy to have his support. I respect him as a leader. I think the entire board respects him."

Deb Fudge, Gore's main rival in the race, is endorsed by Supervisors Shirlee Zane and Susan Gorin.

Outgoing 4th District Supervisor Mike McGuire, who is running for state Senate, has not issued an endorsement.
