The causes behind the deaths of two men whose bodies were discovered in Laytonville this week remained undetermined following an initial autopsy, Mendocino County Sheriff's officials said Thursday.
Determining the causes will require the results of toxicology tests, said Sheriff's Capt. Greg Van Patten.
The bodies, which were badly decomposed, also have not been identified, he said.
They were found in a rural Laytonville greenhouse with almost 200 small marijuana plants. The moisture and heat from the greenhouse are believed to have accelerated decomposition of the bodies, sheriff's authorities said. It's believed the people had been dead for no more than a week.
It could take up to eight weeks for the toxicology results to be completed, Van Patten said.
