2 bodies found in Laytonville ID'd as Kings County men

The Mendocino Sheriff's Office has identified the bodies that were found in Laytonville on Monday as Felipe Cortez Guzman, 26, and Abraham Gregorio Castillo, 27, both of Avenal in Kings County.

A witness led police to the two bodies, which were found badly decomposed in a rural greenhouse with almost 200 small marijuana plants. Sheriff's detectives said the moisture and heat from the greenhouse accelerated decomposition of the bodies. It's believed they had been dead for at least a week.

The bodies were identified based on tattoos that match descriptions provided by their families, said Mendocino County Sheriff's Capt. Greg Van Patten.

The cause of their deaths has not yet been determined and won't be until after toxicology tests are completed, said Van Patten.

It would take up to eight weeks for those tests to be completed, he said.
