Larkfield bank robbery suspect arrested in jail

A man was arrested Tuesday in connection with a bank robbery in Larkfield.

The robbery took place on April 24 at a busy Exchange Bank branch. A man was captured on surveillance video walking in and demanding cash. He put the money in a plastic bag and ran away, evading police in a search of the surrounding area.

But on Tuesday afternoon, sheriff's detectives arrested Matthias Daugherty, 25, of Windsor in connection with the robbery, Sgt. Shannon McAlvain said.

Daugherty was already in jail when detectives identified him as a suspect. He had been arrested on May 12 on unrelated charges of vandalism, battery and resisting an officer, according to jail records.

Sonoma County sheriff's detectives did not explain how they identified the man, saying they're still wrapping up the investigation.

Daugherty is being held on $560,000 bail and awaiting arraignment.
