Man killed in Guerneville Road crash identified

A 23-year-old man who died in a high-speed collision on Guerneville Road west of Santa Rosa on Monday evening was hospitalized after an earlier crash two and a half months ago, the CHP said.

Troy Bowen, recently a Monte Rio resident, suffered severe head trauma in the Jan. 30 crash, in which he reportedly made an illegal U—turn in front of a dump truck on Airport Boulevard, according to the CHP.

Witnesses said Bowen was driving recklessly Monday night on westbound Guerneville Road, crossing the double-yellow line to pass other motorists and reaching speeds up to 70 mph, the CHP said.

He was trying to pass another car near the Laguna de Santa Rosa when he lost control of his 1994 Mitsubishi 3000GT and spun into the opposing lane, where he was struck by an oncoming, eastbound car, authorities said.

Bowen died at the scene of the 6:45 p.m. crash.

The driver of the oncoming 2011 Ford Flex, Jennifer Mirasty, 27, of Santa Rosa, suffered moderate injuries and was taken to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital for treatment, the CHP said.

Her niece, 13-year-old Cynthia Jones of Sebastopol, was taken to Kaiser Medical Center after complaining of pain, the CHP said.

Both drivers and the passenger were wearing seatbelts, authorities said.
