SRJC bakery opens

The Santa Rosa Junior College Bakery opened for the spring semester Wednesday in the new B. Robert Burdo Culinary Arts Center, across from the main campus on Mendocino Avenue.

The SRJC Culinary Cafe will open to the public on Feb. 1 in the new facility located at 1670 Mendocino Ave. To make reservations, call 522-2796.

The bakery, which is open Wednesday through Friday, features freshly baked pastries and breads made by the students, plus coffee drinks. From 7:30 a.m. to 10 a.m., you can sit in the cafe's dining room. Items may be purchased to take home until 2 p.m.

In the Culinary Cafe, students prepare and cook a weekly menu of seasonal salads, soups, sandwiches, pizzas, entrees and desserts.

The cafe is open for lunch at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday through Friday. Seniors age 60 and above receive a 15 percent discount on lunch.

The new, 22,000-square-foot building was named for B. Robert Burdo, who served on the SRJC's Board of Trusteess for over 25 years. It was built with $20 million in Measure A bond funds.
