Occupy Santa Rosa protesters appear in court on bank arrests

About two-dozen Occupy Santa Rosa supporters filed into a Sonoma County courtroom Thursday for hearings on protesters arrested for entering a downtown bank.

Wearing t-shirts expressing solidarity with the seven arrested on Jan. 6, supporters watched under extra courthouse security as prosecutors announced they were not ready to file misdemeanor trespassing charges.

Judge Brad DeMeo asked four of the defendants to return Feb. 16. The other three are expected to appear Monday.

Police arrested the protesters during a demonstration against foreclosures and lending practices at Wells Fargo. According to the Occupy website, the protesters read statements at two branches in an act of civil disobedience.

The protests were accompanied by a march that drew 400 people, according to the website.
