Man struck, injured in hit-and-run crosswalk crash in Guerneville

A 63-year-old man was struck and critically injured by a hit-and-run driver in a downtown Guerneville crosswalk Thursday night, the CHP said.

The eastbound black sedan never stopped after hitting John Leslie Frank, a Guerneville resident, the CHP said.

Authorities are hoping to find witnesses to the 9:54 p.m. incident.

Frank was hit crossing Main Street at Mill Street near the local Safeway store, the CHP said. He was taken to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital with what initially were reported to be minor to moderate injuries, including a laceration on his head and abrasions, the CHP said.

But a nursing supervisor at Memorial Hospital said Friday afternoon that Frank was in critical condition at the hospital.

The person who hit him remained at large.

Authorities said the black sedan may have been a Honda but they are hoping witnesses or someone else may know something about the driver or the car.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call the CHP at (707) 588-1400.
