Manhunt for Lake County jail escapee

Lake County sheriff's deputies Monday were looking for a jail inmate who escaped after climbing a fence from a minimum security facility.

The inmate disappeared at about 9:25 p.m. Sunday from the Lake County Hill Road Correctional Facility near Lakeport, Sheriff's Lt. Steve Brooks said.

David Allen Brown, 22, had been in custody since April. He was due to be released next Dec. 8, Brooks said.

Brown was slated to be in prison but was diverted to the jail after prison inmate population changes made by the state.

He had been convicted of resisting arrest, violating his parole from a prior felony conviction, being under the influence of drugs, car theft and possessing stolen property.

Brown has numerous tattoos on his neck and arms. He was last seen wearing a blue jail jacket, shirt and bluejeans, Brooks said.

Brooks asked anyone with information about Brown's location to contact deputies at 263-2690.
