Letter of the Day: Ulterior motives

Ulterior motives

Ulterior motives

EDITOR: Why is it that professional bicycle racers are now "coming out" in droves about their years of doping and denial? Why do they write books? To purge their souls? Or do they admit their involvement in doping to lessen their sanctions or keep some of their racing titles? To get the big guys? To avoid paying back money? So they can register and participate in other sporting events?

They only admitted doping when they got caught. It is disgusting on so many levels - not that they all took dope to stay in the competition, but they lied to us and used us to keep their role-model images.

And even with public apologies, they are still being rewarded for all of their past and present behaviors.
