Kenneth Donald Hutchins suspected of multiple assaults

A Sonoma Valley man was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of repeatedly molesting a girl over the past year.

Kenneth Donald Hutchins, 64, of Boyes Hot Springs, was booked into jail on a number of sexual assault charges, including suspicion of oral copulation with force of a child under 14.

If convicted he could face 25 years to life in prison.

Sonoma County sheriff's officials said Hutchins is the great-uncle of the victim, a girl under 12.

"He was helping out with day care," Lt. Dennis O'Leary said.

He said another child alerted the victim's mother Tuesday night to a sexual assault, which led to an investigation and arrest.

O'Leary said there were multiple acts with the victim in her Sonoma home as well as the suspect's.

Hutchins was being held Wednesday without bail.
