A moratorium on drive-thrus in Sebastopol was extended to a year by the City Council on Tuesday to allow more time to study the issue.
The City Council first adopted a 45-day emergency measure on Dec. 18 that put a moratorium on drive-thru services.
The only project currently under way that would have drive-thru services is the controversial CVS Pharmacy-Chase Bank branch at the site of the vacant Pellini Chevrolet dealership.
City officials contend the moratorium is not specifically aimed at that project, which has the major approvals needed to move forward, but the design of the project could be affected.
The moratorium has also prompted a suit against the city by the developer, Armstrong Development Inc. of Sacramento.
The first debate on drive-thrus will be held by the Planning Commission at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
