Michael Zivyak named president of Sonoma Media Investments magazine division

Michael Zivyak has been named president of the newly-formed magazine division at Sonoma Media Investments, which owns The Press Democrat and four other North Bay publications.

His background in both traditional and new media, as well as regional and national publishing, made him an ideal candidate, said Steve Falk, CEO of Sonoma Media Investments.

"As head of our new magazine division, he will be working on the expansion and growth of our current magazine products along with the possible acquisition or launch of new magazines in the North Bay," Falk said in a statement.

Zivyak most recently served as vice president and publisher of Seattle Metropolitan Magazine and chief revenue officer of The Fiscal Times, an online financial publication.

He was founder and publisher of Berkshire Living, which amassed a portfolio of media properties, including magazines, websites, email newsletters, events and custom publishing. Previously, he served as publisher of SPIN magazine, advertising director of Business 2.0, and held advertising management and sales positions at Money magazine and Glamour.

"I am extremely excited by the incredible growth potential here and I look forward to taking this new magazine division to the next level serving the greater Sonoma region," Zivyak said in a statement. "I can't imagine a more beautiful place to live and work."

In addition to The Press Democrat, Sonoma Media Investments owns the Sonoma Index-Tribune, Petaluma Argus-Courier, North Bay Business Journal and Sonoma Magazine.
