A Tuesday road rage incident left a Santa Rosa bicyclist in the hospital with multiple broken bones and internal injuries, police said.
The biker, whom police did not identify, had a near collision with a Volvo S-70 sedan around 6:25 p.m. near Jennings and Eardley avenues in west Santa Rosa, Santa Rosa Police Sgt. Mike Lazzarini said.
The cyclist yelled at the driver, Matthew Dewayne Hamilton, 22, of Santa Rosa, Lazzarini said. Hamilton apparantly threw the car into reverse to go back and confront the man, but in the process ran him over, Lazzarini said.
Witnesses reported that the Volvo then left the scene, leaving the man injured on the pavement and dragging his damaged bike behind for more than a block, he said.
Officers located the Volvo parked nearby on Cedarwood Drive and found Hamilton walking along the street close by, Lazzarini.
Officers arrested Hamilton on suspicion of felony hit and run.
The cyclist's injuries are not life-threatening, Lazzarini said.
