New leader appointed for Sonoma County's Family Justice Center

Sonoma County's Family Justice Center will get its third new leader in less than two years.

Wes Winter, former executive director of Ukiah-based North Coast Opportunities, will start the job Wednesday, District Attorney Jill Ravitch said.

North Coast Opportunities offers human services programs for seven North Bay counties with a budget of $16 million.

Winter replaces Gloria Eurotas, who was appointed by Ravitch to be interim executive director in September. Eurotas filled a spot created by the May 2012 firing of Laura Colgate.

The center is a clearinghouse for services for victims of family violence, child abuse, sexual assault and elder abuse. It opened in 2011 in offices on Mendocino Avenue.

Winter's experience includes serving at the helm of other nonprofit groups, including the Volunteer Center and Circuit Rider Productions. He played a role in the planning, development and promotion of one of the nation's first gay retirement centers, the Lodge at Fountaingrove.

In his new role, Winter will oversee operations and develop a long-term sustainability plan, Ravitch said.
