Santa Rosa fast-pitch softball team set for national event

The Santa Rosa Fastpitch men's softball team begins play Thursday in the 2013 North American Fastpitch Association A-Major world Tournament in Des Moines, Iowa.

The Santa Rosa team came out of the losers bracket a year ago and won five consecutive games on the final day of play to win the Class A world title, which meant an advancement this year to the A-Major level.

Among the returning players on the Santa Rosa roster for this year's tournament are Casey Hillman, Nick Green, Tom Dower, Casey Remy, Jabari Wimbs and brothers Brian and Danny Macler.

Brian Macler was the tournament MVP in 2012.
