Letter of the Day: Cut defense spending

Cut defense spending

EDITOR: While Pentagon spokespeople are all over the media complaining about cuts to their budget, our roads are falling apart, our schools are underfunded and the Postal Service is making drastic cutbacks. These are just a few of our social services that are in trouble.

We already spend an unnecessary amount of money on our military. The last thing we need is to sacrifice more of our jobs, education and safety for the sake of an army that is unneeded. Don't believe the Pentagon scaremongers.

I urge everyone to contact their members of Congress and tell them to not sacrifice the services we need for a military that we don't. We have to put enough pressure on our elected officials so that out-of-control military spending comes to an end.
