Motorcyclist sought in hit-and-run crash with bicyclist north of Santa Rosa

The CHP is investigating a hit-and-run collision Wednesday in which a bicyclist was struck by a motorcyclist.

The 20-year-old male bicyclist, whose name wasn't available, was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries, Sgt. John Evans said.

Evans said the bicyclist was heading north on Old Redwood Highway around 3:30 p.m. and went forward on a green light at Mark West Springs. The eastbound motorcyclist apparently ran a red light and struck the bicyclist. Initial reports said the bicyclist was seen trying to crawl toward the shoulder after being struck.

Witnesses described the motorcycle as a Yamaha R1 with gunmetal or gray paint with black markings. The rider was male, witnesses said. Officers were following up on leads Wednesday night, Evans said.
