Imprudent project

EDITOR: I'm just amazed that while the city of Santa Rosa should be watching its pennies, the City Council and others want to spend $14 million to renovate Old Courthouse Square.

If the average citizen who was barely keeping their head above water financially even thought of doing a major renovation of their house and garden, we'd all call that irresponsible. Well, here we have a council that is ready to spend money that is not directly coming out of their pockets at a time we have major cutbacks in services and staff.

If this city is as financially shaky as the experts say it is, such a feel-good project certainly is not prudent at this time.
