One teen dead, two injured in Napa County creek crash

A 19-year-old Vallejo man, reportedly riding home from a trip to Lake Berryessa with friends, died in a crash Sunday in eastern Napa County.

Cody A. Dalen was pronounced dead at the scene, reported the CHP Monday.

Driver Adam Luzzi, 18, of Fairfield suffered major injuries and was flown by helicopter to Queen of the Valley Hospital in Napa.

Passenger Antonio Del Castillo, 17, of Fairfield had moderate injuries was taken to the same hospital by ambulance.

The CHP reported a caravan of vehicles was driving south on Highway 121 at about 1:30 p.m. when one of the cars, a 1994 Honda Civic, went off the road and down an embankment about one mile south of Circle Oaks Drive.

The car overturned and landed on its roof in a creek.

Friends in the other vehicles stopped along the highway and went down the embankment in an attempt to help the victims, the CHP said.

Emergency crews had to free the three from the crushed car.

The group had been coming from the nearby lake, according to news reports.
