A suspected drunken driver crashed in rural Petaluma late Sunday night then reportedly walked away while his injured passenger remained at the car, reported the CHP Monday.
CHP officers called to the crash on King Road at about 10:40 p.m. were told the driver had fled, reported CHP Officer Jon Sloat.
They found passenger Joseph Daignan, 23, of Petaluma. Daignan had what appeared to be minor injuries and was taken to Petaluma Valley Hospital.
The driver, James Rodrigues, 23, of Petaluma was found at his home. He was taken to the local hospital and arrested on suspicion of felony drunken driving, said Sloat.
On Saturday night at about 10:25 p.m. a driver on Lakeville Highway near Stage Gulch Road drove up directly behind northbound CHP Officer Greg White.
The officer saw the driver weave into a turn lane then cross double yellow lines, Sloat reported.
White pulled over, let the Honda pass, than pulled over the Honda driver.
David Quiroz, 29, of Petaluma appeared to be drunk and failed sobriety tests, Sloat said.
His three children, ages 2, 7 and 8, were in the car and weren't properly restrained, Sloat said.
Quiroz was arrested on suspicion of felony child endangerment and drunken driving. The children were turned over to family.
At about the same time, another CHP officer patrolling in the Fulton and River Road area spotted a BMW sedan speeding into a turn onto Fulton Road.
The driver then accelerated and slammed on his brakes, putting the sedan into a 180-degree spin into a driveway, Sloat said.
Officers Cyril Ruffin stopped the car and the driver got out and confronted the officer, said Sloat.
Michael Morgan, 49, of Santa Rosa was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving. He also was wanted on a warrant for a drug violation and contempt of court.
