Sonoma County Water Agency offers tour of Russian River water supply system

The Sonoma County Water Agency will offer the public a glimpse behind the scenes at its unusual water collection and pumping system near Forestville, source of drinking water for 600,000 customers in Sonoma and Marin counties.

A tour on Sept. 14, starting at 9 a.m. will allow participants to view the inflatable rubber dam across the Russian River, fish ladders, infiltration ponds and water collector 6, one of the largest of its types in the world.

The tour is free, but space is limited, so advance registration is required. Visit www.sonomacountywater.org/tours to sign up.
