Mission Blvd. street racer cited, car impounded

Santa Rosa police say a 24-year-old man is suspected of racing on Mission Boulevard when he crashed into a Rincon Valley home late Thursday night.

The driver was northbound, approaching Montecito Boulevard, when he apparently lost control of his car on a curve near Yukon Drive and veered into a house on the west of the street, police said.

The 11:30 p.m. crash damaged the house and broke a gas line that required repair, police said. No one was injured.

Police officials withheld the name of the suspect Friday, saying they were still trying to contact witnesses and other potential participants and did not want to interfere with the investigation.

But Sgt. Marcus Sprague said the driver was cited for a Vehicle Code section related to street racing. His vehicle was impounded under the same code, Sprague said.
