A Santa Rosa man who led deputies on a chase and was subdued with a stun gun remained in custody Sunday at the Sonoma County Jail on suspicion of drug charges and resisting arrest, Sonoma County sheriff's officials said.
A deputy spotted the man, later identified as 39-year-old William Short, on a bicycle breaking several traffic laws Saturday at about 5:45 p.m. near Stony Point and Todd roads, Lt. Steve Brown said.
The deputy tried to stop him but Short pedaled away until he crashed just under a mile north on Todd Road near Butler Avenue, Brown said. Short then ran but was tackled by a deputy, he said.
Short resisted arrest until a deputy deployed a stun gun to subdue him, Brown said.
The deputy found about an ounce of methamphetamine, $1,287 in cash, pipes, a gram scale and what appeared to be stolen property in Short's possession, Brown said.
Short, who was on felony probation, was arrested on suspicion of resisting arrest, violating probation, possessing stolen property and a controlled substance for sale, Brown said.
