Santa Rosa woman threatening suicide subdued with stun gun

A 26-year-old Santa Rosa woman who threatened "suicide-by-cop" was subdued with a stun gun and apprehended Saturday, Sonoma County sheriff's officials said.

A Dutton Avenue resident called 911 at about 3:45 p.m. Saturday to report her roommate had locked herself in a bedroom and was threatening to force deputies to shoot her, the Sheriff's Office said in a statement.

The caller stated the woman had overdosed on pills, said she was going to cut her wrists with a knife and also stated she had a gun and planned to make deputies to shoot her, officials said.

Deputies contacted the woman in her bedroom and deployed a taser, striking her in the abdomen and left hand, according to the statement.

The woman was taken to the hospital and placed on a "hold" for a mental evaluation, officials said.
