Letter of the Day: GOP and abortion

GOP and abortion

EDITOR: While I was glad that you chose to report on Republican Todd Akin's ignorant and inflammatory remarks ("GOP push to oust one of its own," Tuesday), I found it interesting that your mention of vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan's positions on women's reproductive rights did not include his support of a bill which would have imposed forced ultra-sound on women in Washington, D.C. who seek abortions. The article also failed to mention that Ryan has consistently stated that he is against abortion even in the case of rape or incest, nor did you mention that the Republican presidential candidate has also stated that he would "get rid of Planned Parenthood." It would appear that the Republican powers that be are up in arms about Akin's language, not about his philosophy. Sounds more than a touch hypocritical to me.
