Crews respond to series of suspicious fires in Santa Rosa

Small suspicious fires have been burning in the area of Piner and Marlow roads, including three Monday night, a Santa Rosa fire official reported.

"We've had some fires over the last week or so, all suspicious in nature," Battalion Chief Mike Jones said.

There have been six, including Monday's three, Jones said. They have not caused serious damage. Most have been dumpster fires or have involved debris burning along nearby creek paths.

Firefighters were called to the area at 9:47 p.m. Monday for a fire on a path by the water. That was followed by a fire reported at 10:15 p.m. and another one five minutes later, both in dumpsters at different apartment complexes in the area, Jones said.

Jones asked anyone who sees anything suspicious to call 911.
