Third arrest made in Lake County home invasion

Lake County sheriff's deputies have announced the arrest of a third suspect in a home-invasion robbery Thursday morning that led to the death of a woman whose car was hit head-on by a deputy rushing to assist a pursuit of other suspects.

Jesse Gilbert Moncivaiz, 28, of Clearlake was taken into custody Thursday evening, the sheriff's department said in a news release Friday evening.

One additional suspect is apparently still wanted. Sheriff's spokesman Lt. Steve Brooks did not return messages seeking additional information Friday.

In the release, Brooks said deputies received information that Moncivaiz was in a residential complex on Lake Street in Lower Lake. Around 6:15 p.m. Thursday, he was arrested behind the complex without incident.

He was being held at the Lake County jail on $1 million bail on suspicion of robbery, burglary, being armed in the commission of a felony, threats and conspiracy.

Two other suspects, James Robert Conaster, 38, of Clearlake and Lauren Astor Faumuina, 20, of Middletown, were arrested Thursday morning on similar charges.

After the reported home-invasion robbery about 6 a.m. Thursday, a deputy heading east on Highway 29 to help pursue the suspects crashed his patrol car head-on into a vehicle driven by Gabriela Rivas Garcia, 26, of Clearlake. She died at the scene.

The deputy, whose name has not been released, was seriously injured and flown to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital, the Lake County Record-Bee reported. His condition was unknown Friday.

The department hasn't released any more specifics about the fatal crash. It was being investigated by the CHP and the Lake County District Attorney's Office.
