A wind-driven fire near Lake Berryessa grew to nearly 400 acres overnight, but fire crews expected full containment by Friday evening after stopping the wildland blaze's forward expansion despite gusting winds and dry conditions, Cal Fire personnel said.
Estimates Thursday night that the fire had reached 500 acres have been revised and the size of the fire reported closer to 376 acres Friday morning, Cal Fire said.
It was 75 percent contained at 7 a.m. and was projected to be fully contained by 6 p.m., Cal Fire said.
The cause of the fire was undetermined Friday morning.
The blaze was first reported around 8:30 p.m. Thursday near Knoxville-Berryessa and Eastide roads on the north end of the lake and was blamed for heavy smoke that spread into San Francisco and the greater Bay Area.
Though there are some ranches and structures located near hte fire zone, no evacuations have been ordered, Cal Fire said.
The area, as well as much of the Bay Area, remains under a Red Flag Warning until 6 a.m. Saturday because of critical fire conditions, including low humidity and high winds.
