Santa Rosa baby store closing after four decades in business

Longtime baby products retailer My Baby News is closing its Santa Rosa store after four decades in business, citing a decline in sales as its customers shifted their shopping to the Internet.

My Baby News, which is part of a national affiliation of baby specialty stores, has been operating in Santa Rosa since the 1960s, the company said. Owners George and Paula Resing acquired the Santa Rosa store in 2007 and opened a Petaluma location in 2011. The Petaluma store closed last week.

"Our customer counts have been declining over the last two years," the Resings said in a statement. "Most of the baby products sales are moving to the Internet now. Our lease is up and we decided not to renew."

A going-out-of-business sale began Thursday at the Santa Rosa store, located at 3011A Santa Rosa Ave. For more information visit www.mybabynews.com.
