Letter of the Day: Gun culture

Gun culture

EDITOR: The front-page center photograph of a former Marine at a local gun store was inappropriate and in bad taste ("Long-gun buyers stock up," Jan. 1). Here it is, a new year with hopes running high and this is the best you can offer?

There is an out-of-control gun culture in this country. That picture appeared to suggest approval -#8212; hurry up folks, go out and buy more guns. I am not a gun owner. However, I support gun ownership by responsible citizens, and I believe all guns should be registered.

Kudos and a huge thank you to Jim Minton for his observations ("Guns and ammo," Letters, Thursday). I was so angry when the paper came out that I couldn't respond. His letter changed my mind.
