Supporters of tenants and former tenants of Hotel Petaluma are staging a rally Sunday to raise awareness of their housing situation.
The rally begins at 2 p.m. at Penry Park on Kentucky Street, followed by a march around downtown.
The 1923 hotel is being turned back into an overnight-stay hotel from a single-room-occupancy apartment house. Though not subsidized housing, the residence traditionally had below-market rents and served a low-income clientele.
Activists from the Sonoma County Solidarity Network and Occupy Petaluma have been helping residents seek relocation assistance, rental deposit returns and other demands.
