Letter of the Day: Rights abridged

Rights abridged

EDITOR: It's sad to see that our elected officials in Washington feel that the Patriot Act repeals the Constitution. All they need to do is throw out terms such as "security" and "terrorist," and the Bill Of Rights flies out the window while the police/surveillance state expands unabated.

However, the latest figures (2011) from the Centers for Disease Control show that you are 404 times more likely to die from a fall than a terrorist attack. Perhaps a more productive use of our beloved Transportation Security Agency agents would be to have them leave the airports and patrol the streets looking for old fools like me up on wobbly ladders.
