A Marin County woman remained in custody Monday, suspected of trying to run over her ex-boyfriend with her car and then assaulting him, according to Petaluma police.
Petaluma officers arrested Dinora Alvarado, 39, Sunday afternoon after being called to an incident on Stuart Drive, said Sgt. Marty Frye.
Witnesses said they'd seen the woman accelerate her car and leave the roadway, go over a sidewalk and onto the property of a home. The car narrowly missed her ex-boyfriend, who was on the sidewalk, and a young boy standing in the driveway, said Frye.
The car hit the man's car, parked in the driveway, and pushed it into the home.
Unable to travel any further, Alvarado continued to press on the gas pedal, creating smoke from the spinning tires, officers were told.
The woman then got out and assaulted the man, throwing things at him. It ended when he ran into the house and she ran away.
Arriving officers stopped her in the neighborhood. She admitted to police she had purposefully sped toward him, hoping to kill him, because she was angry over the belief he'd dated a mutual friend, Frye said.
Alvarado is on probation from an earlier domestic violence case in Marin County, which also involved her ex-boyfriend, he said.
As a victim of domestic violence the man wasn't identified by police.
Officers arrested her on suspicion of three felonies, assault with a deadly weapon, domestic violence and child endangerment.
She remained in the Sonoma County Jail Monday in lieu of $30,000 bail.
