'King of Swing' kicks off music lineup on Oct. 27; acrobats to appear Oct. 24

The Wells Fargo Center for the Arts has announced the lineups for the 2013-2014 seasons of both its Symphony Pops Series and the Clover Stornetta Family Fun Series.

The ninth season of the pops concert series, presented by the Santa Rosa Symphony and Wells Fargo Center, will open Oct. 27 with "The King of Swing: Benny Goodman at the Symphony," featuring guest clarinetist Ken Peplowski.

The four-concert season also includes:

Dec. 15 -- "A Very Merry Holiday Pops," featuring the Santa Rosa Symphonic Chorus, with more than 60 voices.

Feb. 23 -- "Three Phantoms in Concert," with Broadway tenors Mark Jacoby, Gary Mauer and Craig Schulman singing Broadway tunes. Each has played the title role in Andrew Lloyd Webber's "The Phantom of the Opera" on Broadway.

April 27 -- "The Return of the Classical Mystery Tour: A Tribute to the Beatles."

All of the concerts will feature the Santa Rosa Symphony, led by Michael Berkowitz, and all are on Sundays, starting at 3 p.m., with a pre-concert talk at 2 p.m.

Season tickets for the pops series are available now, ranging in price from $109 to $255. Single ticket prices are $32 to $80.

China's Golden Dragon Acrobats will open the 2013-14 Clover Stornetta Family Fun Series at Wells Fargo Center for the Arts with a performance Oct. 24.

Other programs in the eight-show season include:

Nov. 13 -- Story Pirates, a performing troupe that uses stories submitted by children to create funny sketches and mini-musicals.

Dec. 4 -- "Angelina Ballerina: The Musical," based on the Public Broadcasting System animated series and presented by Vital Theatre Company.

Feb. 1 -- "Stunt Dog Experience," with dogs performing acrobatic tricks and stunts.

Feb. 21 -- "Stuart Little," based on the classic children's book by E.B. White and presented by Dallas Children's Theatre.

March 12 -- "Jim Henson's Sid the Science Kid-Live," based on the PBS Kids TV series "Sid the Science Kid" and presented by Mills Entertainment.

March 28 -- "Peter Pan," J.M. Barrie's timeless story of the boy who never grew up, presented by TheatreworksUSA.

May 3 -- "Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day," based on Judith Viorst's beloved children's book and presented by Two Beans Productions.

The Feb. 1 and May 3 shows start at 3 p.m., and all others start at 6:30 p.m.

Season-ticket packages for the family series are available now at $112 for adults and $80 for children for eight performances, or $68 for adults and $50 for children for four shows. Single tickets cost $12-$16 for children and $17-$21 for adults.

Single tickets for both series go on sale Aug. 5 for members of Wells Fargo Center for the Arts, and Aug. 23 for the general public.
