Judge dismisses Lake County sheriff's lawsuit against D.A.

A judge has dismissed a lawsuit filed by Lake County Sheriff Frank Rivero against District Attorney Don Anderson.

The decision, issued Tuesday, is the latest incident in an ongoing feud between Rivero and county officials. Rivero rejected a request from the Lake County Board of Supervisors for his resignation in March, while critics have begun gathering signatures to hold a recall election.

Rivero filed the suit against Anderson alleging civil rights violations after the district attorney placed the sheriff on a "Brady" list of officers with credibility concerns. Anderson stated Rivero tried to limit public information to protect himself and filed a motion to strike the lawsuit.

In a separate hearing several hours later, a judge listened to a request from the Board of Supervisors to remove the county's obligations to pay for Rivero's legal representation. The final decision on that case will be released over the weekend.
