Wind wreaks havoc across Sonoma County

Sonoma County schools were open, though the Hoen Avenue access to Montgomery High School in Santa Rosa was closed due to power lines and debris, and buses were running late, schools Superintendent Steve Herrington said.

Dunbar School in the Sonoma Valley also is open, despite a downed tree blocking one entrance, he said.

Nearly 7,000 customers were without power, as well, in Mendocino and Lake counties, with 95 separate power failures.

More than 760 customers also were out in Napa and Marin counties, as well as Vallejo, she said.

Crews were on the scene or already making repairs in most cases, with power to be restored later Friday, she said.
