Downed power lines, trees close roads across region

Leave early and drive with care.

That is probably the best advice for anyone going anywhere in the North Bay on Friday morning, given a plethora of downed trees, damaged power lines and small brush fires, that have roads closed around the region.

Several major routes closed to traffic Friday morning included Arnold Drive, between Leveroni Road and Petaluma Avenue, and Trinity Road, about a mile from Highway 12, due to a downed power line.

River Road also has been shut down between Wohler and Trenton-Healdsburg roads since at least 2:35 a.m., due to a death investigation and police action, authorities said.

An overnight wind event with winds gusting to 45 mph wrought havoc on the area, smashing windows and bringing trees and limbs down into power lines and structures.

A high wind advisory issued Thursday by the National Weather Advisory was set to expire at 10 a.m. Friday.
