"I don't know that he's ready to go in there and play 65, 70 snaps in a game," Allen said. "My anticipation that you'd see him in there in somewhat of a rotational basis but yet I anticipate him playing."
Whether that means Barnes would play at guard and then move to tackle to give Veldheer an occasional breather remains to be seen.
Veldheer was lost during training camp with a torn left triceps that required surgery and placed on the injured reserve/designated for return list. He is expected to be officially added to the roster Wednesday, at which time the Raiders will have to release a player.
When asked if he could play a full game Monday night following practice, Veldheer said, "I feel if I step out there for a game, I'll be ready to play."
Veldheer has been working both on the strength of his left arm as well as his wind.
"I've been able to run and move my feet and build up to that capacity," Veldheer said. "I don't know what the plan is as far as snaps or how much I'm going to play."
Tight end Mychal Rivera, who said he had cleared all concussion tests Monday, was practicing. Cornerback Mike Jenkins, who also had a concussion against Tennessee, was at times wearing a helmet at practice and at times was without one.
Running back Darren McFadden was taking repetitions at running back and could get playing time along with Rashad Jennings against the Cowboys.
Players who weren't at practice were wide receiver Denarius Moore, safety Tyvon Branch and defensive end Jason Hunter, all of whom probably won't play against Dallas.
