County officials and advocates on Saturday will kick off a campaign to promote awareness of mental health issues and reduce the stigma associated with mental illness.

The Celebrating Healthy Sonoma event will be held in downtown Santa Rosa and is to include training for a certification in suicide prevention and parenting workshops in Spanish and English.

Also on the agenda are a panel for LGTBQ social readiness training and a workshop on PTSD recovery for military veterans and their families.

Third District County Supervisor Shirlee Zane will be a keynote speaker along with Theresa Bruton, the county consumer affairs liaison-mental health rights advocate.

The event runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at The Glaser Center, 547 Mendocino Ave. Registration for workshops, which start at 12:15 p.m., are on the day of the event.
