Search for remains in Lake Sonoma to resume Wednesday or Thursday

A dive team searched Lake Sonoma on Tuesday for possible human remains after a diver reported seeing what appeared to be bones, Sonoma County sheriff's officials said.

The dive team did not find any human remains during Tuesday's search, said Lt. Steve Brown. The search began at 8 a.m. and ended right at dark, Brown said.

The search will continue either Wednesday or Thursday morning, Brown said.

Sheriff's officials called for the aid of the Marin County Sheriff's dive team and a team with an underwater robot from the Oakland Police Department to search the area near the Lake Sonoma Bridge, officials said.

The diver reported spotting human bones in about 95 feet of water near the bridge. He notified the Sheriff's Office at about 1 p.m. Friday.
