Woman killed in Knights Valley ATV crash identified

A 29-year-old woman died late Thursday night after venturing out alone on an all-terrain vehicle in rugged country off Highway 128 outside Calistoga, the CHP said.

Corey Anne Considine had been missing for at least an hour when friends who went looking for her found her around midnight pinned underneath the overturned four-wheeled vehicle, part-way down an embankment, the CHP said. She was not breathing.

The accident occurred in the hills near Highway 128 and Foote Ranch Road, authorities said. The woman was found about three-fourths of a mile from the main residence, the CHP said.

Considine was not wearing a helmet and suffered a head injury in the crash, the CHP said. She also may have suffocated, authorities said.

Considine reportedly left on the ATV about 9:45 p.m., the CHP said. Her friends went in search of her when she hadn't returned after an hour or two.

Dispatchers gave the civilians on scene instructions in CPR while they awaited the arrival of volunteer firefighters and an ambulance, but they were unable to revive her, REDCOM emergency dispatch personnel said.

She was pronounced dead by a member of the ambulance crew, a dispatcher said.

Authorities are investigating whether Considine might have been impaired at the time of her death, CHP Officer Jon Sloat said.
