A former Sebastopol youth camp leader and aspiring preschool teacher has been sentenced to 40 years in federal prison for making and distributing child pornography, the U.S. attorney's office said Wednesday.
Dylan Josh Zara, 31, of Santa Rosa, was sentenced Tuesday in federal court in San Francisco, said Melinda Haag, U.S. attorney for the Northern District of California.
Zara was indicted by a federal grand jury in November 2011, a day after a Sonoma County judge sentenced him to 16 years in prison for child molestation.
He pleaded guilty in June to six federal counts and admitted using two children under seven to make the pornographic materials. Zara will serve his state and federal concurrently.
Zara took child development classes at Santa Rosa Junior College, was an assistant director of a Sebastopol youth camp and worked as a computer technician at Twin Hills Middle School.
He was arrested in June 2011 on charges of molesting a 5-year-old girl. FBI agents were tipped to him by emails sent from his account.
