Letter of the Day: Senseless violence

Senseless violence

EDITOR: The phrase "senseless violence" is used almost every day in the news. We heard it yet again last week on the anniversary of the Sandy Hook school massacre when another shooting took place in a Colorado high school.

Senseless violence is a time-honored tradition with gun-addicted Americans, of course. But I hope we never get to the point where this type of thing becomes the new normal: commemorating one senseless act of violence with another.

Thank you, National Rifle Association. Thank you, Congress. Your solid, incestuous relationship seems, indeed, too big to fail.
