A Petaluma man remained in the Sonoma County Jail Monday morning, after his weekend arrest involving a stolen bike and possessing an array of burglary tools, Rohnert Park police said.
Officers arrested Michael Turner, 35, of Petaluma after he was spotted on a bike matching one reported stolen earlier in the day, said Sgt. Eric Matzen.
Turner was carrying bolt cutters, pry bars, lock picks, screwdrivers, wrenches and other tools, Matzen said.
The suspect also had pieces of porcelain from a broken spark plug — a tool used by burglars to break car windows, the sergeant said.
The bike went missing earlier in the weekend while chained to a staircase at a Santa Alicia Drive apartment complex.
A photo of the bike was given to officers and at about 6 p.m. Saturday an officer driving on the Rohnert Park Expressway at Commerce Boulevard spotted it.
The owner identified it as his and Turner was arrested on suspicion of felony possessing stolen property and a misdemeanor charge of possessing burglary tools.
He was booked into the Sonoma County Jail. Bail was set at $5,000.
