Some roads remain closed due to flooding

Several roads remained closed around Sonoma County and the North Coast on Saturday, though the list of closures continued to shorten as the rain let up and bright sun appeared in some areas.

In Sonoma County, flooding still closed Wohler and Trenton roads at River Road near Forestville, as well as Mark West Station Road at Starr Road outside Windsor, officials said.

Flooding also still covered portions of Highway 12 east of Sonoma to Highway 121 near Schellville, state highway officials said. Motorists were instructed to find an alternate route.

Also flooded were areas of Highway 1 just north of the Marin-Sonoma county line and in Tomales, the Department of Transportation said.

Highway 1 in and around Jenner was closed due to an oil tanker crash but was expected to reopen around 11:30 a.m. Saturday, the CHP said.

Road work on Highway 1 between about 2 miles south of Highway 128 in Mendocino County had crews controlling traffic in both directions, state officials said.

A National Weather Service forecaster said lingering "nuisance showers" in north Sonoma County and elsewhere should clear out by midday Saturday, though clouds were expected to begin rolling back in Saturday night.

A warm front moving in overnight was expected to produce light showers in the wee hours of Sunday, followed by a colder rain arriving some time Sunday afternoon, producing showery weather through Tuesday, meteorologist Dan Gudgel said.

Forecasters said a dry period after that through the end of the week should bring partly cloudy to sunny weather, with the next chance of rain coming Saturday.
