Healdsburg council to mull options for open seat

Now that Mike McGuire has resigned his seat on the Healdsburg City Council in anticipation of moving onto the Board of Supervisors, the council on Monday will take up the question of what to do next.

The council on July 6 called for a special election on Nov. 2 to fill the seat, and now will consider whether to appoint an interim replacement.

Council members will face various options, including individually nominating a replacement followed by a vote, taking nominations from the public, soliciting candidates to apply or leaving the position open.

The meeting begins at 6 p.m. Monday at Healdsburg City Hall.
