Carmina Salcido to try out for 'American Idol'

Imagine. When she was days short of 3 years old, Carmina Salcido had her throat slashed by her rampaging father, Ramon, but she lived.

And now, at 24, she can't wait for Thursday, when she will take a deep, cleansing breath, open her throat and sing -- at the San Francisco audition for "American Idol."
