A proposed $1 billion mixed-use project described as being on the cutting edge of environmentally sustainable development goes to the Rohnert Park City Council at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
Sonoma Mountain Village would be on 175 acres at the city's southeast corner, on property formerly owned by Hewlett-Packard and Agilent.
The Codding Enterprises project envisions 1,900 homes as well as retail, commercial and office space. It also includes a "village center," grocery store, fire station and movie theater.
It is designed as a so-called "One Planet Community" which, among other environmentally progressive features, provides 100 percent of its heat, power cooling and lighting with onsite renewable energy sources.
